Melissa Patterson is Principal at John I Leonard High School, one of the largest high schools in Palm Beach County, US. John I Leonard High School is a Title 1 school characterised for its diverse student population. Under Melissa Patterson’s leadership (since 2017), John I Leonard High School has improved from a C to a B status according to the State of Florida school accountability system. Most recently, Melissa Patterson was selected to represent North America on the International Education Advisory Board for Cambridge International. John I Leonard High School has also been selected as a Demonstration Center by Cambridge International, enabling other US schools to see how the Cambridge curriculum works in the classroom. Melissa Patterson’s educational leadership drive is to provide students of all races, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status with equity and access to high-quality education, with emphasis in advanced coursework while capitalising on the students’ strengths.

Professor David Putwain

Professor Putwain taught in various schools and sixth form colleges in the UK from 1994 to 2006. After completing a PhD in 2006, David joined Edge Hill University working initially in the Department of Social and Psychological Sciences and subsequently in the Faculty of Education. David joined Liverpool John Moores University in May 2016. His research interests focus on how psychological factors influence, and in turn are influenced by, learning and achievement. He has a longstanding interest in test anxiety among school-aged populations and the development of interventions to provide students with the tools they need to manage their test anxiety.
